Legal tech guru Colin Lachance will be the association’s innovator-in-residence, leading a year-long program to get lawyers to better understand and implement artificial intelligence.
The competition among Suffolk Law students, who used the VitalLaw research database, is likely to help Wolters Kluwer plan how and where it uses generative AI in its platforms, while giving the students first-hand experience with the novel technology.
“They want to maintain their reputations for being very aggressive,” law professor Thom Lambert said of the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice agreeing to target top AI firms on antitrust grounds. “My guess is this seals the deal: These companies are going to get sued.”
Judge Ryan Nelson stated that “out of an abundance of caution, the best course in this specific case (which may not apply in other cases) is to recuse.”
